# Voca Privacy Policy

**Effective date: 6 July 2026**

Voca ("the app") is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app
made to help non-speaking and minimally verbal children communicate. Privacy
is a core design principle: **Voca does not collect, sell, or share any
personal data. Ever.**

## What we collect

Nothing. Voca has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no accounts.
We (the developer) never receive, see, or store any information about you or
your child.

## Where your data lives

Everything you create in Voca — cards, photos, voice recordings, favourites,
communication history and settings — is stored **on your device**.

If you choose to turn on **Voca Family cloud sync**, your cards and settings
are stored in your own **private iCloud database**, managed by Apple and
protected by your Apple ID. This data is only accessible to you; the
developer has no access to it. Sync is off by default and can be disabled at
any time in Parent Settings.

## Device permissions

Voca asks for permissions only when you use the matching feature, and the
content stays on your device:

- **Microphone** — to record your own voice for cards.
- **Camera** — to take photos for cards.
- **Photo library** — to choose photos for cards.

## Online image search

When a parent uses the optional "Search Online" feature to find a card image,
the search words you type are sent to **Pixabay** (pixabay.com), a free stock
image service, in order to return results. No other information is sent, and
this only happens when you actively search. Pixabay's privacy policy is
available at https://pixabay.com/service/privacy/.

Speech in Voca is generated entirely on your device using Apple's built-in
voices. Nothing your child taps or says ever leaves the device.

## Children's privacy

Voca is designed for use by children together with their parents, carers and
therapists. Because the app collects no data at all, no personal information
about any child is ever gathered, transmitted or stored by the developer.

## In-app purchases

Voca offers optional "tip jar" purchases to support development. These are
processed entirely by Apple. We do not receive any payment details.

## Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this
address with a new effective date. Since Voca collects nothing, any future
change could only make this policy more specific, never less private.
